Graduate Student Research Assistantship in Condensed Matter Theory at the University of
Missouri

Dear friends and colleagues,
Applications are invited for the Ph.D. program in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at
the University of Missouri-Columbia. We have active programs in several areas of Physics,
including Astronomy/Astrophysics, Biological Physics, and Condensed Matter Physics. The
description of the department and the application information are available on our web page:
https://physics.missouri.edu/.
In particular, applicants with solid backgrounds in theoretical physics are encouraged to contact
me directly at kimsek@missouri.edu for a possible research assistantship with the competitive
stipend that can be supported from the beginning of their Ph.D. program. The research topics of
the group include spin transport through quantum materials, dynamics of topological solitons
(domain walls, skyrmions, etc), superfluid spin transport, and magnonic topological phases, to
name a few. The detailed descriptions of research interests can be found on the group website:
https://sites.google.com/site/sekwonkimphysics. I would greatly appreciate you bringing this
opportunity to the attention of suitable candidates.
For further information or with any questions, please contact me at kimsek@missouri.edu.
Best,
Se Kwon Kim

Postdoctoral Position in Condensed Matter Theory at the University of Missouri

Dear friends and colleagues,
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in my condensed-matter theory group in the
Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I would greatly
appreciate you bringing this opening to the attention of suitable candidates.
Preference will be given to candidates with strong experience in spintronics, quantum
magnetism, quantum materials, and non-equilibrium transport phenomena. The research topics
include the dynamics of topological solitons (domain walls, skyrmions, etc), magnon topological
insulators, and spin transport through unconventional superconductors, to name a few. The
detailed descriptions of research interests can be found on the group website: https://
sites.google.com/site/sekwonkimphysics.
The position is expected to begin in Fall 2019, although this is flexible. Candidates should have a
Ph.D. degree in physics or closely related fields before the beginning of the position. Interested
candidates should send a CV (including a list of publications) and a brief research statement (up
to two pages) to kimsek@missouri.edu, and arrange for at least two recommendation letters to be
sent to the same address. Reviewing will start immediately and will continue until the position is
filled.
For further information or with any questions, please contact me at kimsek@missouri.edu.
Best,
Se Kwon Kim
