주제 : Quasi-particle measurements with Scanning Tunneling Microscope

In condensed matter physics, the interaction between elementary particles manifests as quasi-particles and collective excitations, giving rise to emergent phenomena. Dirac and Weyl fermions in topological materials, Bogoliubov quasiparticles in superconductors, and Majora fermions in topological superconductors are the examples. These quasi-particles exhibit distinct energy-momentum dispersion and spin characteristics. In this colloquium, I briefly introduce the emergent phenomena in condensed matter and explore to characterize them, particularly through the application of scanning tunneling microscopy.
