주제 : The Strong Force: what is happening?
발 표 요 약 :
The strong force, one of the four fundamental forces in nature, binds protons together inside the nucleus despite their electric repulsion. Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) is the underlying theory that explains this phenomenon, describing the interactions between quarks and gluons confined within protons. In the early universe—and in high-energy colliders—quarks and gluons rapidly combined into protons and neutrons due to the strong interaction. These particles form the dominant constituents of the visible universe. Accurately predicting their production is essential for testing our understanding of the strong force and for estimating backgrounds in the search for new particles at high-energy colliders. In this talk, I will discuss a long-standing discrepancy in the measured values of the strong coupling constant—the key parameter of the strong force—and present our proposal and recent progress toward shedding a light on this issue.
